My name is Margo Murillo and I am a veterinarian in New Jersey. I have always loved animals and knew I wanted to be a veterinarian from a very young age. I went to college at Rutger's University where I studied Animal Science. I became very interested in equine medicine at that time and graduated with a minor in Equine Science. I attended veterinary school at Ross University which is located in Saint Kitts. Living in the Caribbean was an amazing experience. As part of my veterinary schooling, I did my clinical year at Colorado State University. I graduated veterinary school Cum Laude. After I graduated veterinary school, I had aspirations to become a small animal veterinary surgeon. In order to become a surgeon further training was required, so I did a 1 year clinical rotating internship in San Diego California. During this year I got trained by specialists in surgery, cardiology, emergency medicine, radiology, and internal medicine. I learned during this year that I love more than just surgery and that I did not like orthopedic surgery all that much. I still loved soft tissue surgery but knew that the majority of my career as a surgeon would be performing orthopedic surgery. After a grueling internship year, I also became very burnt out. I decided that I did not want to pursue a residency in surgery anymore and decided to go out into small animal general practice. So in 2011, I moved back to New Jersey and have been practicing general medicine since. I love being a GP doctor as I have the luxury of doing everything, I do a lot of surgery and have become the extremely proficient in dental care as well. When I moved back to New Jersey, I found my husband and we now have 3 beautiful girls. At the moment I have one cat named Izzy who adopted my family when we moved into a new house. When I was pregnant with my youngest daugher, my dog past away. Due to the craziness of family life, it has not been the right time for another dog. I hope within the next year or so to have a dog again though.
I get frustrated on a daily basis on misinformation my clients come into appointments with. I want to provide a place where any one can go to find factual information about animal health, pet care, animal diseases, and helpful products for pet parents. I also do not think a lot of the world realizes the stress of everyday veterinary life and hope to open up a world of the knowing a day in the life of a veterinarian.
